When a kingpin threatens New York City, a group of mutated turtle warriors must emerge from the shadows to protect their home.
VFX supervisor Pablo Helman requested the actors to improvise the elevator beatboxing scene after noticing their on-screen chemistry.
When the Turtles rush out of the elevator for the climactic showdown, they are seen to have no pupils. Their pupil-less look was their original appearance in the TMNT comics and the post-2000s era TMNT cartoons.
The elevator scenes are based on shots from the 2003 series when the turtles ride the elevator to the top of a building being used as a base for the foot clan, stopping at several levels along the way to fight, and ending with a face off against the Shredder at the top.
In the elevator scene, the side of the elevator has two signs. The first reads "Safety requires teamwork, be a part of our team," which foreshadows the Turtles working together to defeat the Shredder. The second reads "Notice: weapons of any kind prohibited", which is a joke.
During the elevator scene when the Turtles begin to beatbox together, the control panel is lit up for floor 36, then jumps straight to floor 54.
