Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)

A middle-aged Chinese immigrant is swept up into an insane adventure in which she alone can save existence by exploring other universes and connecting with the lives she could have led.

Elevator scene from Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)

Trivia

The note Waymond hands Evelyn in the IRS elevator reads: "1) Switch shoes to the wrong feet. 2) Close eyes, imagine you are in the janitor's closet. 3) Hold that thought and press the green button. P.S. Don't forget to breathe."

Spoilers

The Matrix (1999) references are frequently made throughout the movie. Like Neo (Keanu Reeves) downloading skills in The Matrix, Evelyn (Michelle Yeoh) can learn skills by swapping universes. An Alpha team coordinates Waymond (Ke Huy Quan) and Evelyn from some central universe with reclining seats. During a fight Waymond calls the team via his headset asking them to find "a new exit". Alpha Waymond gives Evelyn two options: once she exits the elevator, she can turn right to go into the janitor's closet or she can turn left to attend her IRS meeting (Red pill or Blue pill?). Also more direct obvious references like Evelyn stopping bullets in mid-air, being guided through cubicles from a threat by someone over the phone, finally, her symbolically refusing to be called by her name.
